Constructed in the 1940s by the Collier Family, Everglades Airpark (designated XO1) has been used by the Air Force, President Truman, and private pilots to visit Everglades City.
This publicly owned airport brings visitors in to the great Everglades National Park, historic locations like the Rod & Gun Club, and local events like the annual Seafood Festival.
While also being a major part of the history of Everglades National Park, the airport also contributes over 2 million to the economy of Florida and most importantly Everglades City. The airport is also critical not just for small businesses economically, but for the safety of Everglades City to bring in emergency supplies or aid quickly in case of natural disasters.
